Dear Families,
We are aware that some area schools are considering closure, or have already made the decision to close. We have been in close discussion with both our fellow High School Heads of School, as well as K-8 Heads of School, and we are working in each section to prepare developmentally appropriate Online Learning plans should we need to close school. For now, school remains open, and we will alert you if this changes.
Assessing the Need for Closure:
We are reviewing information from local authorities, such as the SF Department of Public Health and SF Mayor's Office, national authorities such as the CDC and US Department of State, and international authorities such as the WHO, to help guide our decision.
Preparation for Closure:
Please note, if we have to close school:
- The first day of the school closure will be a Professional Development day for our teachers to prepare for the transition to Online Learning.
- Online Learning does not replicated attending school, but rather continues students' engagement while off-campus.
- Online Learning will begin on the second day of the school closure; your section principal and/or your children's teachers will share more detailed information about daily activities and assignments.
Just as we ourselves have begun planning for the possibility of closure and have provided tools and support to our teachers, our families should begin to explore options for individual child care needs.
I thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue to assess the situation, and balance the needs of our diverse school community.
Warmly,
